چکیده

This paper summarises an updated climate change trends analysis—developed for the period from 1 October 1864 to 30 September 2021 within scope of a Horizon 2020-funded project increase resilience in European coastal cities—for representative site Lisbon Metropolitan Area (Portugal). By using long ground-based daily records rainfall and surface temperature at Lisboa-Geofísico climatological station, analysis aimed identify (i) long-term recent temperature, (ii) changes extreme rainfalls, heatwaves, droughts, (iii) possible effects coupled minimum maximum temperatures (Tmin Tmax, respectively) on drought development based diurnal range (DTR) indicator. To detect these quantify their magnitude, Mann?Kendall Sen’s slope estimator tests were implemented. The mean annual indicated that study area has warmed ?1.91 °C through 157 analysed years. Results evidenced statistically significant upward both Tmin number Tmax heatwave days. In what concerns hydrological events, series peaks-over-threshold (POT) techniques showed more frequent intense events years, reaching up ?120.0 mm single day. With regard drought, proved characterisation commonly used standardised precipitation index (SPI) might differ evapotranspiration (SPEI), as latter can take into account not only but also important trigger drought. According SPEI index, severe conditions have been last 60 years than any other recorded period. Finally, decreasing DTR trend towards present was found influence rates thus characteristics.

linkage between climate change and extreme events in iran

in recent years, interest in climatic extreme events (droughts, floods and heat waves) has been growing not only due to their direct impact on many socio-economic sectors, but also as climate change indicators. in this study, the behavior of extreme events is investigated using extreme climate index software (ecis) package. the trend analysis of extreme indices is applied to daily series of tem...

Climate change and extreme heat events.

The association between climate change and the frequency and intensity of extreme heat events is now well established. General circulation models of climate change predict that heatwaves will become more frequent and intense, especially in the higher latitudes, affecting large metropolitan areas that are not well adapted to them. Exposure to extreme heat is already a significant public health p...

Investigation of the atmospheric circulation anomalies associated with extreme rainfall events over the Coastal West Africa

This study investigates the atmospheric circulation associated with extreme rainfall events over the coastal West Africa. The rainfall data of this study were obtained from the Global Precipitation Climatology Centre (GPCC), spanning from 1981 to 2010. The atmospheric datasets were also obtained from the ERA-Interim reanalysis. The study employed the Z-Index to categorize dry and wet years into...

Changes in grassland ecosystem function due to extreme rainfall events: implications for responses to climate change

Climate change is causing measurable changes in rainfall patterns, and will likely cause increases in extreme rainfall events, with uncertain implications for key processes in ecosystem function and carbon cycling. We examined how variation in rainfall total quantity (Q), the interval between rainfall events (I), and individual event size (SE) affected soil water content (SWC) and three aspects...

Impacts of climate change on extreme precipitation events in arid (Bandar Abbas) and semi-arid (Shahrekord) stations in Iran

The aim of this paper is to project extreme precipitation events in an arid and a semiarid station. In order to project climate change based on general circulation models (GCMs), we have applied LARS-WG[1] downscaling tool. This stochastic weather generator down-scaled the climate of two synoptic stations using HADCM3 model and A2 emission scenario for 2040. We extracted extreme precipitation e...
